Need help having computer problems!

When I open internet exployer and go to different sites I can't get any of the buttons to show up I just get a box with a x in it. Like none of the buttomns on the side of ch.com show up.
Plus if I hit refresh the page comes up can not be found.
I have already deleted files and history! Any advice anyone?
