Well, a brief update on my neurologist visit yesterday. Since my combination of Neurontin and Indomethacin is still not working completely, she is now starting me on Topamax.
We talked a long time about the weight gain I've experienced with the Neurontin (40 lbs. in 3 years), but as most of us would agree, I think, weight gain can be tolerated as long as our PAIN goes away. Heck, I'd stand on my head for the rest of my life, if I were faced with the choice of the ice pick pains or standing on my head. :-)
We did talk about cluster headaches, just because Topamax is also being used to treat these, and even though I don't have those - I told her I visit this board everyday and feel like I "know" all of you who are going through this kind of terrible pain. She said she has one patient who has chronic clusters and the Topamax has made him virtually pain-free for the first time in his life! (I just throw that in guys - if it helps even one of you - it was worth it).
She also mentioned the weight LOSS that is sometimes experience with the Topamax (that would be wonderful) - but my main focus right now is to be able to handle the flareups I have.
Any suggestions, thoughts, experiences with Topamax - please write. I care about you all!
