As one who has eaten as many as five 100 mg tablets of Imitrex daily for months at a time (bankrupting myself in the process... no insurance) I am here to tell you that chest pains are not universal.
The only effect I've ever noticed is that at the beginning of a cycle before I become accustomed to it, Imitrex produces a barely noticeable "stoning" effect... almost like the very first tiny whisper that a strong hallucinogen will produce before it kicks in completely.
After a few days I no longer notice even that. No shortness of breath, no chest pains, no tingling, no tightening of neck muscles... just relief from pain.
