Ice Pick Headache
This response submitted by F. Vincent on 10/6/95.
Ice pick headache is actually a vascular headache, occurring in migraineurs. There are other types of headache that have been misslabeled ice pick type (occasionally), including paroxysmal hemicrania (seen more in females) and cluster (more common in males. You should see a neurologist; while there are many headache centers in the country, I'd recommend seeing a general neurologist. For the names and locations of the headache centers you can contact the american headache association.
