well, it's unfortunate, but welcome to the board. i was diagnosed last november after suffering for nearly 6 months! but i'm 23 so i understand how hard it is to give up drinking. i'm have some messed up form of chronic where i never really get any remission, but i get a pseudo remission where the HA are weak and only about 3-4 painful ones a week. so i feel i can drink during these periods, but not during full scale cycles when i get two a day that knock me on my ass. so i'll quit drinking for the 3/4 months that happens. it sucks, but my friends are supportive and have even talked me out of drinking knowing what it will do to me! so that's the key. educate your buds and they will understand. it's not worth it. plus i saved a shitload of money! i just recently started charting my cycles. it's a good idea especially at the beginning because my cycles are so fucked up it will hopefully help me understand how it works. haven't tried topamax. hope it works for you. i'm on verapamil and it seems to help. get some oxygen tanks! find out from your insurance company names of suppliers that are in their plan and then have a neuro send in a perscription. O2 is the savior. whatever you do ...if you are thinking about steroids to abort a cycle talk about ALL the side effects with your doc. i had a really bad experience on dexamethasone. well good luck....
