John, first of all I LOVE how you handled this situation. YOU GOT THEIR ATTENTION! I did the same thing in my doctor's office except I was screaming for Imitrex - had the whole office in an uproar while holding the doctor in a "death grip".
We NEED someone in OUCH to start a DOCUMENTATION of these incidents and put them together in some form that can be presented to the PROPER authorities and used for our good. I just thought of this idea, so it's not taken total root yet, and some of you can add your thoughts to it, but we tell our experiences on this board, but if we had them in a documented form, we'd stand a better chance of getting something done.
Ok, think about it. This could be catagorized by EMERGENCY ROOMS, HOSPITALIZATION INS (HMOs) or whatever they call them now), PHYSICIANS, etc.
We've all undergone horrible experiences in ER, with doctors who didn't have a clue or with our insurance companies. But we talk about it among ourselves. Why not put it together and start getting it to some people who can do something about it. You know the old saying, "Throw enough *(&& on the wall and some of it is gonna stick." Once this "report" is compiled, there is no telling where it can be sent - Congress, Insurance companies, Social Security hearings, Physician conferences, just think of the possibilities.
This would be a good project for OUCH to take on, but someone would have to take on the job of compiling these "case" stories and catagorizing them.
So what do the rest of you guys think?
