After two years of chronic and trying everything including surgery, my doc and I hit on Topamax and I've been in remission (except for a few breakthrus occassionally)for about two years now. I'm HUMAN again.
The steriods just caused a LOT of weight gain for me and did me no good at all. Geezz I've been on about every combination there is. Imitrex just made my heart go crazy.
Ask your doc about topamax. I'm on 200mg a day at the present time. My doc lets me do the regulating because I know when I need more or less. I've been up to 400mg when the breakthrus hit more regularly (usually spring and fall) and down to 100mg when they subside for long periods. The past year I haven't been over 300mg at any time, so that makes me think I'm a lot better than I used to be. But I still take it one day at a time.
