I am having my first major cluster headache. My regular migraine medicine doesn't work. My doctor has tried me on Imitrex pills, Prednisone, Oxygen, Ibuprofen, Salsalate, antibiotics (at first), and Demerol. The Demerol works fine but when it wears off I know another cluster headache is just hours away. The Ibubrofen seemed to be helping but there was a serious interaction with my other normal meds. The Salsalate doesn't seem to be working at all. Imitrex did absolutely nothing. Oxygen made it worse. Prednisone had very little effect.
My headaches are complicated by the fact that I also have migraine headaches. If one of the migraines hit me while I am in the middle of my cluster headaches I loose my vision. CAT scans show nothing.
Can anyone give me a suggestion on what I can do for relief?
