I never connected my dreams/nightmares with my CH...when I awake with one...that is when the true nightmare begins...Thankfully I am on Verapamil now and I can even nap and wake up without the pain...prior to that...when I was in cycle...almost every nap would be rudely disturbed by a fierce growing CH....that is very rare now.
Take note of what others said about REM sleep...if you searched the archives here...and you should...you would find countless Clusterheadache sufferers reporting that God awful wakeup call at the onset of REM. It is more than common...it is characteristic.
The hell of it is...CH...it's cause...it's triggers...it's methods of management...are still not definitive...the "not knowing" is our greatest frustration...
THE JOURNAL: Write down everything that you can. As it hits...remember what food,drinks,activities preceeded it...no detail is without worth...no matter how minute...do not jump to conclusions as you see patterns develop ...note them...IF it's Clusters...He is a wily demon...Most of us are episodic...that means they will disappear as suddenly as they came...only to begin again months or years later.
