I am unfamiliar with the costs of running a website. Can anyone tell me roughly how much it costs to archive the almost 100,000 posts here? Does anyone know if DJ is still bearing the entire cost himself since he eliminated the banner ads?

Does anyone ever stop to think of the increased COST to the man that made this board possible before posting something that might perhaps be better handled in a private e-mail or in chat?

As an exercise, take a scroll down this page and pick out how many posts have to do with medications, requests for info, answers to requests, pain being currently endured, supporting messages to those posting about pain, debunking false cures, and other legitimate posts. Got a total? Good.

Now repeat the process, counting how many posts there are that have nothing to do with any of the above... posts that are admittedly done out of boredom, answering posts to the boredom post, answering posts to the ANSWERING posts, in-jokes that make sense to about ten people, ANSWERS to the in-jokes that make sense to about ten people, etc. Got a total? Good.

Now compare the two totals. Surprised? I sure was.

DJ is an awful saintly person. If it was me, I'd nuke at least 75% of the archived posts for the last year, and about 90% of the posts for the last two months, without blinking twice.
