Yes, those are typical side effects of Amitryptoline. By rights your docs should also have prescribed you propanolol or another beta blocker, when taken at night these cancel out the irregular heartbeat. The tightness in your chest and shortness or breath is most likely anxiety over the palpitations. Amitryptoline will also make the whites of your eyes go yellow (aaargh horrible).
This treatment is more often used with migraine, and it takes at least 2 WEEKS to kick in!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, there are onlt two things worth taking for CH - one is illegal and the other is a very small does of psilocybin taken once every six months. It is 100% effective in preventing entire episodes.
