If they are cluster HA's, then you should have an Rx to deal directly with the pain of the attack as soon as you feel one coming on. Many use Imitrex (injections or nasal spray are the fastest) mitigate the painful attacks. I'm not familiar with ice pick headaches but Imitrex works for all types of migraines/cluster HA's. There's no need to suffer through these. As I understand it, Naproxen is merely an anti-inflammatory medication (I've taken it for my sore knees on occaission). It's more of a mild prophylactic for cluster HA's; as I said you need something that will abort the attack.
Have you read the medical information on this site? It might help you identify an MD who might really be able to help you with this.
