You've made a great stride in helping your dad by finding this site. It has great info throughout, and some method of dealing with the CH is bound to work for him. Read through as many posts as you have time for. Print the ones that contain meds that you haven't tried yet.
Then bring the printed material to your dad and his doc. And I echoe the remark about finding a good doc. If the one you have isn't doing what you think is right, get a new one right away. One of the biggest factors in dealing with these beasts is confidence in your doc.
Also, let your dad read posts found here. Just knowing that others are going through the same thing will help him. My dad had a 5 year remission, and they started up this year also. This site has helped him deal with them, and he is applying some new techniques found here. Specifically, the water treatment and O2 therapy. (He also uses the frozen peas on the head, which actually has supplied a little humor amidst the terror.)
I really do know just how you feel. It's tough to watch someone you love go through this. Do what you can to help, and get involved medically. Different methods work on different people. There is definitely no universal treatment. You can only hope to make the pain tolerable and livable.
Good luck, and pain free days ahead for your Dad!
