That's what I was looking for, lcbob, a list of non-chemical things that seem to work for some. I notice that you say that they don't work for you. That was my point exactly. They don't work for me, either. That is why I posted.... to see if they worked for ANYBODY.
From the return posts I have seen, it doesn't look like Feverfew works for anyone, or at least not to any significant degree. As for the other non-chemical treatments, i.e. oxygen, heat, cold, water, exercise, etc., I did concede that Oxygen is probably the most universally effective of them all, and bemoaned the fact that my situation makes it impossible to try it. I guess what I was trying to find out was: is there any non-chemical treatment that works so well that one could and would live without her/his emergency backup stash off Oxygen or Imitrex?
Now I realize there are many who post here who have NEVER tried Oxygen or Imitrex, and rely instead on various non-chemical remedies. BUT..... if they were to try Imitrex and find that it worked better than their previous non-imitrex method, would they then switch over to Imitrex, or would they continue with their less effective treatment. Or.... if they found that a three week prednisone taper combined with Sansert or Verapamil shortened their episode from three months to three weeks, would they still "stay natural", or would they embrace the chemical treatment for their next episode?
So perhaps my original post was poorly phrased. I guess rather than saying that it seems that non-chemical treatments don't seem to be effective, I should have said that they seem LESS universally effective. I don't know. Please don't see this as a slam against non-chemical treatments. I am genuinely interesting in finding one that will allow me to ditch my Imitrex.
