I am episodic, but also face the depression and anxiety during my CHs. This cycle I did not want to go back on lithium, as the last time I had been on it I was contantly irritated and depressed. I decided to try another medication (Amerge) along with the Imitrex to abort the CHs. The CHs were constant and my mood was terrible. My husband pointed this out to me and I realized that it probably wasn't the lithium that made me "a bitch". In talking with my neuro., he said that ALL of the patients he has with CH and other CH suffers he knows thru HA clinics and studies he's done all have this similar "side effect". He feels the CH causes the mood swings, depression, anxiety, etc. I have been pain free, thanx to the lithium, for a month now. I am pretty much back to my "normal" self. I do get shadows once in awhile and migraines occasionally----then I get the depression, mood swings, bitchiness, whatever you wish to call it.
