Re: your points:
1. How would it splinter the online group to start our own usenet newsgroup? The usenet is where most users seek out others for discussion on specific topics and there would only be one such newsgroup for CH sufferers. Somnone types in the keyword clusterheadache and up pops the one and only newsgroup dedicated to the topic. I would think we would bring more people into the discussion as no one would scour the various web sites looking for a CH message board.
2. I had trouble finding this site.
3. Newsgroups have descriptions which are visible to many newsreader programs. This would screen out 99% of curious non clusterheads. Additionally, this would be one of over 20,000 newsgroups. What are the odds that we would be constantly bombarded by net knuckleheads who had no idea what we were talking about? Slim to none. There are literally thousands of other newsgroups that would be far more attractive to this type of disruptive element. There may be the odd whacko from time to time but they're easy to ignore and or filter out depending on your software.
4. Because it could be better for all the aforementioned reasons.
5. It isn't that difficult and the benefits outweigh the percieved technical hurdles IMO. It could work a lot better.
One other problem I've just noticed is the relatively limited capacity of this message board and the resulting tendency for messages to scroll off in a few days as compared with a usenet newsgroup.
But I've belabored this idea long enough and as I can see I'm up against substantial opposition I hereby concede. Why waste precious board space on a discussion that is of no immediate benefit.
And yes, I am a "Clusterhead" of many years and I just stumbled across this web site a few days ago.
