My wife works for an OB/GYN practice and most of the patients are pregnant. Since taking triptans is a major NO-NO when you're pregnant, they have lots of Imitrex & Amerge layin' around. I get the leftovers, because the pharmaceutical reps make regular visits to drop off free drugs. The patents on the triptans haven't yet expired, and that's why they're so expensive. When competition appears in the market, we should see the prices drop. Plus, they know how bad we hurt...or at least they think they do, (well, they must, 'cause we keep buying the stuff. My neurologist suggested the 100mg tablet cutting, also. (They cost the same as 25's or 50's).
