severe Scoliosis. She had 7-1/2 hours of surgery, leaving her with stainless steel rods in front and back of her spine. The incision was from her neck to her tail bone, and having to use parts of 5 ribs, she was cut from mid-front to mid-back.
Her recovery was very, very rapid, and today at age 15 ,and three years after the surgery, she is in cheerleading competition and has been doing gymnastics for the last 2 years.
Age plays a large factor in recovery time, of course, and the doc told me that I, at age 61, would not even survive such a surgery.
I would certainly get a second opinion, and do my own research before agreeing to this. And do be sure that you have a well-thought of neurosurgeon.
