No, it's not specific to the UK. We live in Canada and we have yet to find a doc who is eductated with clusters. We were lucky in that we had a welding tank in our shop and, after consulting with the local poison control centre and learning about all the risks to not being able to regulate the pressure of the oxygen tank (like you can with a medical tank), we decided it was worth the risk for my husband. He is very careful in inhaling it, and ALWAYS finds relief if he can catch the attack early enough. I'm not saying I recommend you going out and getting welder's supplies but we were up against the wall and it worked for us. I occasionally suffer from migraines and it also works for them but, again, only if you catch it early enough.
Keep trying to hound your doc....we plan on printing out everything we can on oxygen therapy from the search engine for this page before my hubby's next cycle hits. I won't take no for an answer this time from the doc!
