Ice, or anything else cold, is one of my best friends during a cluster. Ace makes a reusable fabric covered ice pack that is the most comfortable ice pack I have found so far. I will use anything cold I can get my hands on though, if I am not in reach of one of my packs. It is not unusual to see me with an ice pack on my left eye or temple or neck, depending on how far into the cluster I am, and eating ice as fast as I can while taking an occasional break from that to drink some ice water. For me, the cold distracts from the pain and it is an acceptable alternative to actually trying to dig my eyeball out of my head by way of my left nostril.
