No such thing as a stupid question. My husband has been "treated" for numerous sinus infections and there have been cycles where the penicillin actually helped the clusters to diminish. For the most part though, drugs have had little effect for him and he always has the sinus congestion while he is in a cycle. An infection is never something to ignore, however, I guess all I'm saying is that it might just be a added extra to the cluster cycle that you are going through. They seem to go hand in hand (in our case, anyways).
