Since six days I'm on Verapamil, and it REALLY WORKS!! From 6 to 8 attacks a day I'm down to 2 to 3! I use Sumatriptan for all attacks so thats down to 2 to 3 shots a day now. Together with the O2 that makes life bearable again. Doc said that when we find the exact right dose for Verapamil, all attacks could be countered. O BOY !!
Funny thing: when I used less sumatriptan I got formidable (normal) headaches. According to my doc thats normal, he compared it with going cold turkey for a drug-addict. Should stop after a day or two and so it did.
I used 6 to 7, sometimes 8 shots of sumatriptan for a period of nearly two weeks, just could not go through more then one or max two attacks a day without drugs, and did not encounter any nasty side-effects sofar. (HOWEVER, I do NOT recomment that! I discussed with my doc about it and told him that my option was to jump, in his opinion using sumatriptan was the better option.)
