I can hardly believe it! I have had cluster headaches starting in 1976, having one-a-day for two-three months and then no headache for several months, then one-a-day for two-three months again. You are know the pattern. In August, I had one last 7 hours. My (HMO!) excuse for a doctor would not let give me anything ecept the old ergatomine which I took for years (said there is nothing new). I finally told him to shove it up you-know-where, saw a younger neurologist in a clinic here (Charlotte, NC.).
He gave me imotrex (spelling?) and put me on a one-week prednisone taper, and a daily verapamil. I had to use one dose of the imotrex, and have not had a headache since October. I still have fears of one hitting me suddenly, but just going this long is like heaven.
I am fully aware of how tough it is, but there may be a light at the end of many of our dark, painful tunnels. God bless all and hope that our support for each other helps in getting each through each day.
