Hi Tami, I, for one, share moments like yours. I think most of us do from time to time. About your meds... Been with the demon here for 18 years and found O2 only moderately effective. Imitrex inj. are the most effective for me while imitrex tabs don't work at all. No insurance here so at $45.00 ea. the injections become out of reach rapidly. Tried zomig last week and it was OK but prefer Maxalt 10 mg.. 1/2 taken early in the shadow will stop an attack while 1 and a hot shower will cancel a full blown CH in about 10-15 min. Have tried midrin, verapramil, inderal and assorted others to no real avail. I am in week 3 of the current series after 2 years clear (the longest ever) but the last series lasted 5 months (again, the longest ever) and am experiencing 4-6 CH per day. I could live fairly well like this if I could only get some sleep without being awakened "full blown" every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I am averaging 2 1/2 to 3 10mg maxalt per day with no ill affects but I can only speak for myself. And, at $15.00 ea. and currently unemployed I am praying for a short series. I tried reasoning with a previous doctor that a small chance of over-medication was far better than the gun on the table (or at the temple) but when he didn't agree I decided it was time for a new doctor. After all, I really don't want to go out with a "bang". Hang in there and keep using whatever will work to keep the demon at bay. This too shall eventually pass. J
