Hi gang,
I've been doing a lot of reading on the web regarding magic mushrooms, their active ingredients - psilocin and psylocibin. I've found some good biochem sites. One in particular, called Investigations with Serotonins and Hallucinogenic Agents by Dr. Richard A. Glennon, a Professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University. This paper focused on the trail that led him and his colleagues to determine whether hallucinogens were 5-HT agonists and if so, which 5 -HT subtype.
As most of you know imitrex and the like are triptans. Sumitriptan succinate - Imitrex is a 5-HT1D receptor subtype agonist. It binds to the 5-HT1 receptor and causes the blood vessels in our bodies to constrict. For some reason this aborts the headache. No one is quite sure why as of yet.
The studies conducted by Richard Glennon et al came to the conclusion that hallucinogens, to be classified as such, must be 5-HT2 agonists. They coin this theory as "5-HT2 hypothesis of hallucinogen action". They later discovered and I quote..."We found that hallucinogens bind at 5-HT1C receptors."
Now if you look at the indole ring psilocin - magic mushrooms - you get this: C12H16N20H-DMT.
If you look at GlaxoWellcome's imitrex you get this: C14H21N3O2SYC4H6O4
They're similar but not exact.
Additionally, imitrex tablets aren't as effective - for me anyhow - as the sub coetaneous injections. So why would the mushrooms be effective, if like the tablets, they're ingested too. Dunno.
Nevertheless, the anecdotes provided by pinksharkmark, flash and others on some of the other web sites are terribly convincing, especially if your going through a rather long and vicious CH cycle as I am presently, and your verapamil is now being accompanied by decacort and lithium - the hells angels of ch prophylaxis.
Given that hallucinogens like LSD and psilocin are chemically close to the triptans and exert very similar biochemical reactions, then it makes perfect sense for me to want to try them. The cost difference provides additional motivation.
So here's what I'm asking. I'm asking anyone, out there, if you have any shrooms or acid, and if you're brave enuff to try this. Sell some to me. If you're a Canadian, all the better, no borders to cross, no customs in the mail. I'll send you the cash first. I'll take the risk. I only need enough to medicate myself. Reply via this email.

yours in ch pain,
arliss
