Ken,
Antibiotics not only kill the bacteria in the infected site but also the bacteria in your guts. The later are useful
to digest cellulose and their destruction usually leads to some diarrhea. This side effect is a minor nuisance, BUT
the space once occupied by the died off bacteria is taken over by the proliferating yeasts also present in the guts.
One of this yeast is 'Candida', believed by some to have a connection with CH.: See the posts by Dan Line of
april 1998; use the search box at the top of this page and enter 'candida' or 'Diflucan'.
There are preparations of benign gut bacteria and yeast that can be taken to prevent the bad ones to proliferate.
The stuff isn't rather expensive and the insurance doesn't pay far it (at least in my country), but delaying the next
cycle for some time should be worth a hundred bucks. Ask your doc and pharmacist about it.
BTW my fist cluster started 2 month after a 7 hour operation with lots of antibiotics, my current cycle started
(a few month too early) 6 weeks after an eye operation.
My best wishes to all, Ueli.
