I don't know if what I have is the same as your father and I have been pretty much out of a cycle except for a recent flair up. The left temple area where I always get headaches is always kind of sensitive especially when touched. With me it is not bad enough to do any thing about but maybe some kind of anti inflamatory might help. Good luck.
