I remember I was 17 or so, and described to my GP that I had bad pain behind my eye for a couple of weeks, about once a year. He shrugs and says "you have cluster headaches". Then gave me several samples of Fioricet w/ codiene and Verapamil. Back then (11 years ago) they did only last 2 weeks, and weren't so bad (compared to now). Plus I didn't have insurance or knowledge at the time. So the fioricet really didn't do much, except maybe made me tired enough to fall asleep.
So, 3 years ago...as the clusters start lasting longer and I get smarter I start researching, plus I found the internet and found this site. What a GODSEND medical, imitrex, oxygen and this site have been.
Now I just take my packet of papers printed out from this site into my GP and he starts writing out the perscriptions. He did say the last time I went in, if this stuff isn't working for me, he will send me to a neurologist.
A good doctor, but I do have to educate him :)
And I'd never know what to do without everyone here. This site has been my neurologist.
