My husband, Kirk, had his first block done yesterday. Did not have the dramatic effect we were hoping for. He had taken his usual dose of Amerge when he woke up, so just had his usual 24/7 shadow when he had the procedure done. After the procedure, he still felt the pressure in his head, but wasn't sure if it was the usual HA shadow, or from having those swabs jammed up his nose. He tried not taking any doses of Amerge for the rest of the day to see how his head would feel. He made it till bedtime with just some occasional 02, but then woke up with a biggie at the usual hour after falling asleep. Even had to resort to Imitrex for the first time since starting on Amerge almost two weeks ago.
He'll have another block next Tuesday. His appointment is at 8 a.m., and they don't want him to take his usual early a.m. dose of Amerge this time before he has it done. He'll most likely have a full-blown HA by then, which is what they want...that should be pleasant. We're still hopeful, but somewhat discouraged. We really wanted it to work so we could quit fighting with our insurance company/going broke on meds. We've spent over $800 out of pocket in the last four weeks since this cluster started, and we have insurance.
