To Lee M. That's the $64,000 question. I didn't get into a specific therapy because I was part of a group of test patients (all acute/chronic CHs). What happened resulted in more questions than answers. There wasn't a clear common ground. What worked for patient "A" had lesser or no results for others. What worked for me had lesser or no results on other patients. But to satisfy your curiosity, as a result of studies done by the pain mgmnt. dept. @ Sloan Cettering (cancer research) I was put on a trial run of Hydrocodone 3 times/day. This was not to deal with the attacks, but to PREVENT them. After 16 yrs. of 2-5 attacks/day (O2 and DHE given IV) the attacks stopped immediately! I have not had an attack in almost 4 yrs unless I miss a dose (oversleep, work overtime etc.). Let me repeat that this had minimal or no results on other test patients. My main point is that medicine has become so specialized that M.D.s simply can't keep up with all the information(which may change daily). Most specialty clinics realize that you can't drive (or fly) great distances regularly so after an initial visit or 2 you may be able to conduct at least some of your business via E-mai/FAX/ phone. I have a great respect for M.D.s since I think it's much harder to be compitent in all areas than to be very good in only one. So, if you have exhausted your local resources without much luck, get in touch with a clinic that deals in headaches exclusively. To all sufferers: please don't give up, new information comes out all the time. I lost a dear friend to clusters (suicide) 2weeks before I was cured (he just plain gave up). God bless all of you.
