"...lurking out there somewhere..."
sounds negative.
I'm not lurking any more than you. I'm all the time checking sites important to me, like this site, and if I have something to contribute or not is reflected by my postings.
"...then I challenge you to volunteer for the education committee and do some real research about doctors and codes and insurance and report your findings back to a very interested audience."
This implies that my previous work (The Wall Street Journal published my numbers on coronary artery bypass surgery, prefering my analysis, over that of Ralph Nader or Health Care Financing Administartion) is not serious; I, and many others disagree.
Also, I don't need a "challenge." If I'm in a position that I can help, I will help.
Regardless, even though I'm overcommitted, what are you proposing? Perhaps I can help.
Your low opinion of people's opinions about their doctors is exactly what condescending doctors want to perpetuate. How are you going to know if a doctor is rude, compassionate, etc, if you are not going to tally opinions?
"The type of research you are interested in calls for dedicated and concentrated focusing on the problems and delving into records, not just people's opinions."
Again, you may not care about people's opinions, but many of us care about that, and place great value in those opinions, when making important choices. Remember, subjective doesn't mean wrong or untruthful. And, yes, when I want an evaluation of the doctors' compassion, I do want a subjective opinion (I'm not sure what else would you want.).
Also, at no point do I suggest analysing only opinions, and I do no analysis that has not got my full "dedicated and concentrated focusing..."
"But if you think a questionnaire addressing this issue would be valuabe, then why not make your own - one of such limited scope can be handled by any one of a myriad of little free scripts offered online."
Are you saying that everyone, who has a suggestion to propose for the OUCH questionnaire, should post their own questionnaire, and do you believe that people will answer to all the questionnaires. I think that people will, at most, answer only the official OUCH questionnaire, and that you may be a little dissingenious on this matter, because you know better.
I praise you for your drive, good will, and many other commendable qualities, which you consistently demonstrate in this site and in OUCH.
