Has anyone used Depakote ER?
My husband was put on this instead of the regular Depakote. We have a stockpile of Imitrix injections and a refill. Also was given Amerge.
We have been relatively successfull using the Depokote ER, only we changed the directions. He was told to take 2 500mg tablets in the morning and use the Amerge and Indocine if he felt an attack coming on. He is taking one in the a.m. and one on the p.m. Seems to work better for him that way. Only trouble with the Amerge is it takes longer than the Imitrix to take affect. So now we are using the Imitrix for a full blown attack and the Amerge before bedtime, since it is suppose to be longer lasting than the Imitrix. He seems to get longer periods of sleep this way. At least we are learning how to manage the meds to a degree. So far, so good. At least the C/H's are a bit more manageable than other episodes.
One thing to our benefit is that the Doc seems to be more concerned this go round and seems more willing to try different things. Wish us luck!!
