Cafergot was the first thing I was on 16 years ago, only it became ineffective on my third or fourth episode. I've also tried about 50% of the drugs mentioned on this site. The O2 has been great throughout the 13 years I've been using it, but, there are times when I don't get to the O2 within the first few critical minutes. Now I use imitrex along with O2 (many people on this site have been also successful using it... shots, I dont know about - didn't use, pill form, slow, 10-15 minutes to relief, and nasal spray, 2-10 minutes to relief). It's expensive, and insurance companies limit the amount. (the 50 mg. pills, I break in two, that way a prescription lasts twice as long). I carry an E tank in my car everywhere I go. I order 3-4 tanks at a time, having the empties refilled when I crack open the last one on hand. You might look into purchasing a regulator (I bought mine used, for $45.00 13 years ago).
Wish you all the luck in the world in stopping these.
By the way, I thought this episode was done about 10 days ago, but it came back with 3-4 mild ones and one hell-of-a-doozy over the past 2 days, I guess as a friendly reminder that it will come back whenever it pleases.
