Cara it sounds like you might have Trigeminal Neuralgia.
Have you had any dental work done in the last yr or so?
Sometimes the dentist can damage the Trigeminal nerve while doing dental work, usually a root canal.
I'm on a forum with people with TN/ATN that has been caused by dental work, lots of them sorry to say.
Even the injection you get can damage the nerve if done wrong. It's very important when you have to have an injection that you get one that doesn't have Epinephirene in it, as it can cause neurogenic inflamation...make your pain worst, and to be in the dentist chair for the shortest amt of time.
