I will not be able to re-join O.U.C.H., but support it wholeheartedly. I really, really, really, really hope that when my book is completed, "Snapped" (a fictional account of a person whose life is destroyed by Cluster Headaches), I will be able to either find a publisher, agent, or a financial backer for independent publishing. If I am able to do such an incredulous feat, and people will actually buy the blessed thing, I hope to get peoples attention to the affliction we all know and hate with endless passion. If I could get the attention of an Oprah Winfrey or a Montel Williams - I am sure that would explode the book into the mainstream and into the public eye.
Not only would the book becoming successful be a great benefit to myself (get me out of the freaking malfunctioning SYSTEMS machine and independent again), but I believe it would be a great benefit to CH sufferers everywhere who have to deal with the public and professional ignorance on a daily basis.
As for the next "family reunion" - I will be at the next CH Convention if I have to hitch hike and sleep on a freakin' park bench while I am there. If I am lucky, maybe I will have the book published by then - that would be too freakin' jacked!!! Then I could bring copies in my backpack, and sell them while I am there. Heck, maybe even be able to afford a Greyhound there (checking my options). Maybe I dream too much; or have just drank wine made from the grapes of wrath for too long. What the hell. For some of us... dreams are all that remain...
...After 13 1/2 years of having CH, and being chronic for the last 3...I am suprised I am still here...
...I will die fighting this wretched thing, but I am beyond giving up. I have come this far, this long, and I hope to make a difference to someone...somewhere. If I reach only one person - then screw it! I am only one person - but many have affected me in profound ways that have also affected others. My Point? You never just reach one person; you reach them and the people that surround them in some form or another. O.U.C.H. may appear to be invisible to some, but it IS making a difference to others.
Peace,
Carl D
P.S. - Did I mention that if I am able to sell my book, a portion of all profits will go to O.U.C.H.? So, if you support me as a struggling artist and author, you in turn are supporting O.U.C.H.
P.S.S. - yes, I will probably be damned for my shameless self promotion - but who gives a... (Oh wait, saving that anger and bitterness for tomorrow, when it can be channeled and utilized more effectively for caseworker CS2).
