I got a notice that this site is requiring a paid membership starting next month. Bummer, it's been my site of choice for the past few years.
The purple toes is bothersome. It indicates a lack of blood circulation in the toes. This could result in gangrene and loss of the toes. It's called ergotism.
I too have used cafergot for the past 25 years but only as an abortive, at the onset of each headache. I've read of it being used as an preventative also. I usually don't take more than 3 or 4 a day. 20-30 a week which is way over the 10/week they limit you too. I've experienced cold extremities but no color changes.
