Even though I had to deal with a pain in the ass doc. I called my clinic yesterday to ask my doc if he would call a prescription in to the pharmacy for some type of abortive to get me through till my Verap kicked in. He wasn't in but they said they'd have the on call doc call me back. Of course that never happened.
Could tell I had an attack coming around 7 so I drove to the clinic and got in to see the on call doc in person. She wasn't interested in hanging around to try the Oxygen as they were closing soon but did plan to give me a shot of Toradal. I told her I'd like some type of abortive to get me through till the Verap started working so she gives me a bunch of Claritin samplers and a Nasacort sampler each to be taken once a day and writes a prescription for Fioricet to take in case of an attack. When I asked her to tell me what the meds were she asks if I really want to know what they are "Would you like me to get the book and read the pharmacology for you?" sarcastically. Told her I'd be visiting a pharmacology site anyway later but she did get the book and read me the ingredients in the Fioricet. I think she just wanted to go home, still a little compassion would be nice.
Anyway, took the Claritin and Nasacort as prescribed along with my Verap and the Magnesium I'd been taking. Spent the day at the beach without problem...been going through the day pain free already, it's the nights I fear. 7 o'clock rolls around and I'm thinking..."well, here comes the test, we'll see if this helps..." and lo and behold, almost 2:30 in the morning and no pain yet! Fell asleep on the couch and just woke up a bit ago so I thought I'd share this.
Dosages are:
1 Claritin in the morning
1 spray each nostril of Nasacort daily
160 mg Verapamil 3 times a day
20 mg magnesium 2 times a day
I can take the Fioricet every 6 hours but haven't had to use it so far.
Hopefully this is actually the meds working and not just a fluke day without a HA. I'll let you know if it continues working. Take care folks...wishing you PFDAN.
