After sufferung from episodic clusters for about 12 years, I have just been through a remission of 1yr 6mo.
I thought that my battle was over. WRONG!! So now seeing how nothing works for the pain I've been experimeting, and found 2 things that is effective in my case. 1) take 325 mg of tylenol every hour (excluding sleep), take Xanax about .25 mg 4 times a day, expesially the time before you go to bed. I also have decided to start taking prozac for a little while. I find that the headache is from a 'spasm' in a nerve inside your head in which the endings extend to the eye, nose ,jaw, etc... The blood being supplied is a result of the nerve spasm in effort to heal. Xanax helps eliminate the spasms of the nerve, and prozac is also going to relieve nervousness as well as help with the deppression that results from episodes. I know that headaches have been reported as side effects to these medications but I'm sure those headaches are not clusters. Well anyway, this worked for me. Also the Prozac and Xanax was the medication I had at the beginning of my year and a half long remission.
