All that is needed to post a link is provided for in the input area, both for a new thread or a followup.
Below the large box where you type your message is a small input box labeled "Optional Link URL" and here goes the link you want to post. Best enter it with copy and past, to avoid typos. But another thing is necessary too: You must type some title for your link in the following box titled "Link Title", otherwise your link does not show up.
Hint: In the preview window the link should appear and it is fully functional, right click on it and choose 'open in new window' and the page you want to share should appear. If not, hit the Back button and try again :-)
