Been there, done that. Here's some advice from a 12-year chronic:
Stay on the meds while they are working. You've still got the CH. Try it a few times - we all do - but remember one thing. These are not magic pills, the lithobid or whatever is working today. After a while, you learn; if it is working, don't screw with it. It may not work when you try it again.
Next, and this is a tough one, quit drinking. If you are chronic, you are going to be putting your kidneys and the rest of your bodily systems through a lot over the years. Alcohol makes the drugs more toxic, and it aggravates the shit out of the demon, making your body demand more drugs than would otherwise be necessary. Alcohol dehydrates, and what we need to be doing when we have CH or anytime we are taking medications is to drink lots of water and stay fully hydrated.
