If you check out the previous posts you will see that there are some people taking up to 960mg of verapamil daily with little or no side effects. I have been on 240mg a day for a little over 4 years now and it has really made a difference for me. Anytime I try to stop taking it, within a few days I start getting into a cycle. On the Verapamil my cluster episodes have been minimized to 1-2 a year and they only last 8-10 days maybe 2-3 a day. So, like many here we take Verapamil every day and probably will until they find the cause and cure for this terrible affliction. Others here also combo it with other drugs like lithium, it works for some. You have to find a Dr. that will try different combos or dosages until you find one that works (I am going to my Neuro to see if she will boost my dosage to see if it knocks out all of them), there is a lot of different treatments and everyone says there is no one treatment that works for everyone, you have to find the one that works for your husband. Oh yeah, I use imitrex injections with great success at aborting the one's that break through. Good Luck PFDAN
