In the beginning, when I was chronic, a few of mine lasted about 4 hours. Perhaps what Diane is suffering is several attacks, closely spaced, like in clusters. Or maybe not. What I wonder is why the Imitrex doesn't give relief. Regardless, trying O2 sounds like a good idea. I'd also suggest NOT taking the pain killers.
