There is some decent evidence that folks with regular attacks during sleep can prevent them by taking ergotamine about one hour before going to bed. ERGOMAR is a readily available brand; it's a tab dissolved under your tongue and has the attraction of being inexpensive compared to many of the meds we use.

The relationship to cluster and stress is not as well established, in my thinking, as it is with migraine. But this is one of those issues which is so difficult to measure that it becomes an "how many angels on the head of a pin" discussion.

There is, however, the paradoxical experience which some folks have of experiencing more attacks on, for example, weekends when the tension is reduced. You might keep a diary of when you have attacks, your emotional state, time, etc. and see if any patterns emerge for you.
Having read ch.com for a time, I'm sure you have come to see that individual variation is the fact of reality for us.
