I've had CHs for 15yrs. It was harder for me to deal with them in the beginning. You might need time to find the right preventive medication or go through the whole line of them and hope that they alter the strenghth and frequency of the cycles. The way I handle it since nothing prevents them is with demerol. I have them every night for a month so I take 100mg. before bed and another 100mg. when they wake me up. I still have to hold on but somehow I am able to get up in the morning and go to work. When the cycle's over I feel pretty worn out but as you'll find out you just have to tough it out on your own because nobody else really understands. Good luck.
