Your message is way too far down the board so let me react here.
What I want to say varies between 'Hey, you are being a bit judgmental,' to `hey, don't be such a bigot,' to `bull shit'
What I balk at is your assumption that getting fat is your own fault. More appetite, no self discipline.
I am sorry, Luke, but that ranks with "take an aspirin if you've got such a headache"....
Besides stuffing yourself with junk food, getting fat has to do with genetic disposition, eating patterns as a child, smoking - and emotional problems. Al that
doesn't go away by "just a little self disciplin". Getting fat is NOT all your own fault. Check scientific releases.
But let's stick to meds here, esp. prednisone.
A good friend of mine had pred for respiratory problems. He was a lover of good food. With the meds he didn't want anything anymore, just nibbled at a cheese sandwich. He didn't get fat, but he didn't eat either.
My mother got pred for the same problem. She also loved her food. With pred her appetite went. She practically stopped eating, living from day to day on a rusk, some coffee, a custard and a bowl of soup. When I came I could sometimes get her to try a few mouthfuls of delicatessen. Most of it went back home with me. She'd had enough for that week.
Yet she gained pounds and pounds. When she died (15 months ago now) she was overweight and looked fullfaced and healthy despite the devil crushing her lungs and the cancer eating her spine.
So please, don't think that what you can do, anyone can do. I think Karla said it too, maybe better. Have some consideration and remember that PEOPLE ARE NOT ALIKE.
