Some of the 'home remedies' mentioned on this site include: vigorous exercise, breathing cold air, hot showers, drinking lots of water, ice packs, hot compresses, rolling the neck and shoulder on the cluster side. Even as with all of the various medicines mentioned here, for each of us some of these work and some do not. I hope one of these works for your husband.
FOr medical treatment, I would suggest seeing a neurologist. If there is any uncertainty about these being cluster headaches, a CAT scan and/or MRI should be done. If the neuro is at all familiar with CH and its treatment, there are many different meds for prevention and aborting CH. Oxygen has been mentioned frequently as an effective abortive. But be sure that the neuro actually knows about CH. If you do not feel comfortable in their ability to treat your husband, then look around for another one.
