for the reason. This is the place to rant and rave about CH. The web didn't exist when I got mine way back in the middles ages (1969) when I was 23. Fortunately, I'm in a very long remission but I still feel at home here. This kind of pain leaves a lasting impression!
I had some pretty good luck with what lots of people call biofeedback. It involves the redirection of blood-flow from behind the eye down the neck and into the arms and hands. This is very easy to do and takes no training. Just concentrate on warming your hands and KEEP AT IT until the pain has subsided. I had good results most of the time although not always. Dr. Wright said to think of it as "filling your hands" with redirected circulation kept away from the head.
I was able to about halve the duration of my attacks with this technique. It's important to do it even when awakened with a screamer. It may or may not work but it usually helps in some fashion. Remember to keep at it and work through the pain. One thing about this technique is that the price is right and it's a great thing to use while waiting for medication to take effect.
Give it a try!
