HI Cheryl
To go on Tegretol you should first have a blood test. Tergretol does something to the white blood count and that way they will know if it starts to take his white count down. I think they test every few months. But Tergretol is more for Trigeminal Neuralgia, not clusters.
It sounds like the meds he was on was good med for clusters.
I understood your post, as well, and know where it was coming from...FEAR...fear that Donald had "given up" and that would be very fearful! Something you have no control of is very fearful. Clusterheads sometimes fear the next attack or when the attack may stop so I'm sure a supporter would feel the same way.
PLEASE try to talk Donald into starting his med again...if it would cause too much hassle between you and him have him come here or talk to someone from the message board (I'm sure anyone would be glad to talk to him) or call the doctor and tell him of your fear that Donald has given up. He really needs to be on his meds.
Hang in there,
Nancy
