I didn't mean to bring back bad memories to anyone.
It was simply a wish for everyone to go back to ANY time in life when Christmas was joyful and simpler and happy. For some of us, that may have even been yesterday!
I hope all the Christmas' that followed your childhood brought you some of the magic that you missed out on as a child. And your message made me even more grateful that as dysfunctional as my family became, there were children who were alone on Christmas. That maybe while I was agonizing over not getting that new Barbie doll, there were kids out there asking Santa for a family or a home. And THAT is what I was trying to get through to my daughter yesterday. Twenty years from now she probably won't remember getting a skateboard or a new video game...but I hope she remembers me holding her in front of the fireplace, braiding her hair and telling her she was the best gift I've ever gotten.
My comments were selfish and I'm sorry
