I am not new to this website. I've seen LOTS of fights here. Stupid ones, vindictive ones, funny ones, ones that had NOTHING to do with CH. Ones that have broken peoples hearts and spirits and chased some really good folks away. Some bad folks away too. We have, however, evolved quite impressively over the years to not bite, as a rule, at some of the little things that used to trigger arguments here. So I guess we have grown in that respect.
The constant and continual thread though that will still provoke an attack here IS the mention of the word "migraine" or the incorrect assumption that clusters and migraines are the same. OR, God forbid, the use of the term "cluster migraine" - that really gets folks going here.
I am a migrainer. My husband is a clusterhead. I would no sooner dream of bringing any migraine stories to this board, than I would dream that pigs could fly. I am not here for that. I am here as a supporter, to help other supporters or to help clusterheads. What clusterheads go through is ENTIRELY different than what migrainers go through. That's it. That's all.
I think the reason WE are so protective of this site is because so many of us for so long have been SO alone in our fight against these monsters. And now that we have found an oasis to discuss our common problems, we don't want to talk about anything else. Another reason is that many of us have received diagnoses and treatments for what the doctors think are just bad migraines that have been totally ineffective. The desperation that clusterheads reach in the search for treatment is maddening enough, without being labelled incorrectly and treated with the wrong meds. If that makes them elitists, then cool. I am comfortable with that.
Rock on.
